Home Emergency cover
Protect your home with Ageas Home Emergency cover
Home emergency cover helps you deal with urgent household emergencies quickly without unexpected repair costs. With one fixed, annual price, you get support when things go wrong so you can relax, knowing help is at hand when you need it most.
What is home emergency cover?
Home emergency cover is optional cover that provides protection against certain unexpected household emergencies. With home emergency insurance we'll arrange for a qualified tradesperson to carry out temporary repairs for emergencies, day or night. You don't even have to worry about a call out charge.
Certain emergencies, such as pipe leaks and boiler repairs aren’t included in your home insurance policy, so this optional cover gives you extra peace of mind. Cover is subject to terms, conditions, exclusions and limits, so it’s important to check what is and isn’t included.

About home emergency insurance
Home emergency cover doesn’t apply to everything. It excludes:
- wear and tear, which we class as damage or deterioration caused by general everyday use
- roof damage
- homes which have been unoccupied for more than 60 days
- second homes
- minor issues such as dripping or leaking taps,
- boiler failures where the boiler is less than 12 months old or still covered by a manufacturer’s guarantee.
Other exclusions and conditions apply, so it’s important to check the policy booklet for full details.
A standard home insurance policy is designed to cover insured events such as fire, flood and theft.
It doesn’t usually cover sudden household emergencies that need immediate attention, like a boiler breaking down or a burst pipe.
Home emergency cover is an optional add‑on that helps with specific urgent situations by arranging call‑outs and temporary repairs, subject to the policy terms and limits.
If you rent your home, emergency repairs are usually the landlord’s responsibility rather than the tenant’s.
This means costs for issues like a broken boiler or burst pipe are often covered by the landlord, but it’s worth checking your tenancy agreement to be sure.
You can get your home emergency cover added to your existing Ageas home insurance policy at any time during or after the initial purchase.
Just log in to your online account to make the change.
No, the age of your house doesn’t impact the cost of home emergency cover.
