Ahead of Carers Week 2024, Ageas is proud to announce the launch of Supporting Carers @ Ageas, an initiative designed to support employees who also act as a primary carer to a family member, alongside their professional roles, offering them one week’s paid leave, a dedicated resource hub and a new internal support network.

According to Carers UK, approximately 1 in 7 of the UK workforce is currently balancing their professional obligations with caring commitments.

April 2024 marked the introduction of the Carers Leave Act in the UK, granting employees a statutory right to one week of unpaid leave per year for caring responsibilities. Ageas is going beyond the requirements of that legislation by offering one weeks’ paid leave.

Supporting Carers @ Ageas includes:

  • New Carer’s Leave Policy: The introduction of paid leave for one week for employees juggling work and caregiving responsibilities, going beyond statutory requirements.
  • Supporting Carers @ Ageas Hub: A comprehensive platform for employees, offering easy access to a plethora of resources and services tailored for those in caregiving roles.
  • Ageas Carers Support Network: A community where employees can find support, share experiences and learn from each other.

Sian Myers, HR Director at Ageas said:

Ageas’s Smart Working policy already allows employees the flexibility to manage their hours to accommodate appointments and other personal commitments but we understand how difficult it can be to balance the demands of working and caring and so we’ve carefully designed the Supporting Carers @ Ageas initiative to address the unique needs of our employee carers.

“From paid leave to a dedicated support network, we’re committed to providing meaningful support that makes a real difference in our employees’ lives and to the lives of the people they care for.”
