Haven’t got a payment code for Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)
What is Strong customer authentication? (SCA)
Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is a security requirement under EU regulation.
It means that when you make online payments or access banking services, your identity is verified using two or more independent factors, for example:
- Something you know (e.g., password or PIN)
- Something you have (e.g., phone, card reader, authentication app)
- Something you are (e.g., fingerprint, facial recognition)
It’s essentially two‑factor authentication designed specifically for payments and banking.
Why do you need SCA?
SCA is designed to reduce the chances of fraud and improve security as it makes it much harder for someone to access or spend money using stolen card details.
If you don't have a payment code for Strong Customer Authentication, you should contact your card payment provider who will be able to help you.
