Can I drive my car in Europe and abroad?

Ageas Standard policy
You will be provided with cover as standard while you or any driver covered on your policy is driving within the European Union

Ageas Essentials policy
You will be covered in Europe for 90 days throughout the policy term. However, the cover will be third party only.

The European Commission announced that with effect from the 2nd August 2021, UK drivers will no longer be required to carry Green Cards when driving their vehicle in the EU (including Ireland), Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia, and Switzerland.

You can find out more within your policy booklet, or you can read more about Green Cards

Please be aware that a Green Card may still be required to drive in other countries, including: Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine.

If you still require a Green Card, you can request one at no extra cost from us by calling. Please have your travel dates available and give us 2-3 weeks’ notice to ensure that you receive your Green Card in the post in good time. Alternatively, if you prefer, we can email your Green Card to you.

Not sure what policy you have?
Please refer to page 1 in your policy documents to see which level of cover you have; Standard or Essentials. Then select one of the above options for more details on your cover whilst driving abroad.
