Ageas UK (‘Ageas’) has been confirmed by bolttech as the lead insurer for the UK supporting the new embedded motor insurance proposition launched by BYD UK, one of the world’s fastest-growing electric vehicle manufacturers, powered by global insurtech, bolttech.
Announced earlier this year, the BYD and bolttech partnership brings embedded insurance into the electric vehicle purchase journey, enabling customers to access tailored protection more seamlessly. As part of this proposition, Ageas joins as lead insurer on the panel, introduced via regulated broker Car Care Plan, supporting the delivery of insurance products to BYD customers in the UK.
The operating model brings together a set of specialist partners, with bolttech acting as BYD’s strategic insurtech partner in Europe, powering the digital insurance experience both through its award-winning AI-enabled embedded insurance platform and as co-broker with Car Care Plan, supporting distribution and operational delivery. Ageas will provide insurance cover as part of the insurer panel. The collaboration highlights the increasing demand for more integrated digital journeys within the automotive sector, helping simplify access to protection as electric vehicle adoption continues to grow.
The embedded experience powered by bolttech offers customers dynamic and tailored motor insurance packages for their BYD electric vehicles online and in dealerships, with coverage options available during the vehicle purchase and finance process. The coverage is designed to support the everyday use of electric vehicles, including protection for battery theft or accidental damage, charging cables and home chargers, and liability while charging at home or in public.
Adam Beckett, Managing Director, Broker and Partnerships at Ageas UK, said:
“We are pleased to support this innovative embedded insurance proposition as lead insurer, working alongside BYD, bolttech and Car Care Plan. This reflects our continued focus on partnerships and broker-led distribution, while also enabling us to participate in the evolving EV and OEM ecosystem. As customer expectations continue to evolve, integrated and digitally-enabled insurance journeys will become increasingly important. This model demonstrates the strength of collaboration across insurers, technology platforms, brokers and manufacturers to deliver more seamless customer experiences.”
Mark Thomson, Trading Director, Car Care Plan, said:
“We are proud to be a part of this innovative solution for a leading brand such as BYD, via our strategic partnerships with bolttech and Ageas. Car Care Plan has a rich history spanning over 50 years of providing value-add programs for automotive clients, and we are excited to see this evolve to enabling EV customers frictionless access to high-quality insurance products.”
