Now into its third generation, the BMW 1 Series has long earned its place in the subcompact executive car market.
With its sporty exterior and plenty of BMW innovations on the inside, this model has made waves since it launched back in 2004.
About the BMW 1 Series

Insurance groups and tax bands
When working out a fair premium for your policy, insurers assess the information you’ve provided and use it to calculate your level of risk.
Things commonly taken into account include your age and where you live, while your car’s insurance group may also be considered by some providers. Insurance groups are bands from 1-50 that indicate the cost of parts and repairs associated with a given model, and when they’re considered, cars in higher bands will often cost more to insure. Please read our guide to car insurance groups in the UK for more details.
Another banding system to be aware of is that used to calculate the road tax you need to pay. Also known as Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), this tax is charged in accordance with your car’s CO2 emissions, with the most polluting vehicles having to pay more.
Tax bands and insurance groupings for some editions of the BMW 1 Series include:
|Model||Insurance Group||Tax Band|
|BMW 1 Series Hatchback 116d M Sport 5d||16||E|
|BMW 1 Series Hatchback 118i SE Dual-clutch auto 5d||20||G|

|BMW 1 Series Hatchback 118d M Sport 5d||22||F|

|BMW 1 Series Hatchback 120d xDrive M Sport Automatic 5d||26||G|
