Over 600 children and patients, who may be spending their Christmas at Southampton General Hospital, have had the festive spirit brought to them early and received gifts donated by employees from a local employer Ageas.
Employees at Ageas, headquartered at Hampshire Corporate Park, have donated around 630 gifts to hospital patients to share the joy of the festive period. The gifts included an Xbox console, handmade knitted baby clothes, food and festive treats, toys and cuddly bears, books, board games and pamper items. They have also run a number of fundraising events which have raised £682 for the Hospital Charity.
Michelle Wheeler, Fundraising Manager for Southampton Hospital Charity says: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the staff at Ageas this Christmas. After sharing with them our wish list, they went above and beyond and got us a little bit of everything. This ranged from Christmas food and drink to toiletries, gifts and toys. We have been busy distributing them all across the hospital, from our youngest to oldest patients. You have certainly helped put a smile on the faces of our patients this Christmas. Thank you so much for all of your support.”
