Local employer Ageas, which employs over 1000 people at its head office in Hampshire Corporate Park, was last week recognised for its achievements at the annual British Insurance Awards.

Ageas won four awards including the prestigious General Insurer of the Year title.  This is the third time Ageas has won the award and has been a shortlisted finalist in this category for the last nine years.  It also picked up awards for Transformational Deal of the Year for successfully integrating two insurance businesses, Digital Initiative of the Year for a social media campaign by its subsidiary brand Kwik Fit Insurance Services and the Achievement Award was presented to Group CEO Barry Smith for a decade of strong and inspiring leadership within Ageas and the industry.

Andy Watson, CEO Ageas UK was delighted to watch his team collect the four awards and said: “I’m thrilled that we have won again at the British Insurance Awards. This is a reflection of the way we continue to find innovative ways of keeping the customer at the heart of everything we do to ensure we remain a trusted choice for insurance buyers.  Our teams here in Eastleigh have contributed enormously to our success and in recognition we are giving all employees an extra day’s holiday this year.

In my first full year as CEO I have been impressed by the standards that our employees set and the relationships we have with our partners and customers. I’d like to thank them all for their ongoing support which has contributed to this fantastic achievement.”

The ceremony hosted by Incisive Media at the Royal Albert Hall was attended by more than 2000 insurance professionals and annually recognises the achievements of an industry that contributes significantly to both the UK and the local economy.
