Nissan was founded in 1933 with its name is an abbreviation of its holding company ‘Nihon Sangyo’. But the origins of the company’s Datsun brand go even further back, to 1914.

Today, Nissan are Japan’s third largest automotive manufacturer, and consistently rank among the global top 10 by sales.

Insurance groups and tax bands for Nissan models

There are lots of things insurers factor in when calculating a car insurance quote. One factor that some insurers look at is the insurance group of the car you want to cover.

This refers to bandings, numbered 1-50, that reflect the engine power, value and repair costs of a given model of car.

You’ll also need to think about the cost of Vehicle Exercise Duty (VED) on your Nissan. This is a tax paid annually on any car used on UK roads, and is sorted by CO2 emissions using a banding system, with the most polluting vehicles paying the most.

Insurance groups and tax bands for some of the most popular Nissan models include:

Model Insurance Group Tax Band
Nissan Juke 21 - 26 G - J
Nissan Leaf Hatchback 21 A
Nissan Micra 1 - 11 A - G
Nissan NV200 Combi 15 - 26 A - G
Nissan Pulsar 9 - 18 A - H
Nissan Qashqai 13 - 21 A - I
Nissan X-Trail 15 - 23 D - I

At Ageas, we aim to bring our comprehensive cover to as many drivers as possible. But we can’t guarantee that we have a policy for every model of car, and this includes some Nissan vehicles.

We will determine if we can provide you with a quote based on a number of factors that include your car and your personal circumstances.
